Final match of the season or 'how to write a report after losing the match day programme'. I decided at the last moment to attend the match, despite being bribed to stay away on the back of a jinx that reads 1 win seen in 7 months. In all that time James Bunn had gone from being the hero of Chesterfield in October to boo-boy target of April. My return from the States has coincided with a late burst of goals from the ex-Spurs forward - though none could have been as easy as walking the ball into the net in the fifth minute of this game after an absolute howler by Courtenage in clearing the ball upfield for the *visitors*. The lead was brief though, for Protheroe quickly conceeded a penalty for Shaw to level the scores. Southgate and Livett had opportunities to regain the lead for Enfield, at which point Maskell showed them the proper way, with a quickly taken kick to send Hampton's loyal following into raptures.

Whilst Enfield could be said to have had the better of exchanges during the first half, Hampton come out after the break and made the E's look quite ordinary. Southgate bobbled a corner 15 times along the ground and onto the post early on, but Griffiths put the game out of sight in a sweeping move from midfield to the left wing, gleefully poking the centre home with an open goal in sight. Between times Mputu for the visitors incurred the wrath of the main stand with his over-the-top exchanges, with the shoving of Morgan in front of the referee bring forth a flurry of abuse and a quite startled 'who, me?' look in that general direction. Bunn and Jones engineered a penalty as they played keep ball between themselves, with Jones converting the spot kick with some ease. For the final twenty minutes came lots of huffing and puffing, though Hampton never looked to be relinquishing the points.
