Enfield (1) 2 Allen 30; Jones (pen) 75
Carshalton Athletic (0) 1 Elverson 55
Match Report by Arron Newble of 'Home of the Robins'
Carshalton failed to really get going in this vital 6-pointer and consequently the hungrier side walked away with the points.
The Robins missed the influential Glasgow and Bronek Dabrowa, but they didn’t really support Pace and Fowler enough that allowed
Enfield to attack for the majority of the game.
Having played just 5 minutes, the game was brought to a halt after one of the linesmen slipped and had to be stretchered off.
His replacement came on wearing a pair of boots, which made him resemble Krusty the Clown. That was the most amusing moment
in the first half though and despite several good breaks by Pace and Fowler, none of the midfielders gave them any help and the
attacks broke down.
Enfield took the lead in the 30 minute in a somewhat fortunate way. One of the Enfield players shot from the edge of the area and it
clipped a Robin’s defender. The deflection looked to have beaten Borg but he produced a fine save to parry the ball up, almost to
safety. However, his good work meant nothing because Allen reacted quicker than any of the Carshalton players and was left with a
simple tap-in. Pace went close with a volley soon after but he really should have at least got the shot on target because it was a
very good chance.
Once again it seems the players only play for one half because Enfield totally dominated the second half apart from 10 minutes that
gave the Carshalton fans real hope that they could snatch at least a point. They did get some reward for the early enterprising play
when Matt Elverson blasted home a rebound. Unfortunately it appeared to be a false dawn as Enfield snatched back the lead 10 minutes
later.
A long ball over the top to Georgiou looked to have put him clean through but Orlando Hollingsworth refused to give up the chase. He
did well to catch him up but no sooner had he got close then his hand appeared to make contact with the ball. The referee who couldn’t
have been any older than his teens had no hesitation in giving the spot-kick and the resulting penalty was placed right in the corner,
past the despairing Borg.
That changed the game completely and as Carshalton started to fade out Enfield stepped up a gear. Georgiou went close again from the
edge of the box and Allen was unlucky after spotting Borg off his line to see his long-range effort drop just over the crossbar when
another goal seemed a certainty. The best chances that the Robins created were from set-pieces and with time running out Matty Fowler
should have at the very least made contact with a cross, but he mistimed his jump and the ball sailed over for a goal kick.
The same player also had a goal ruled out for offside but quite worryingly neither he nor Pace look like they are going to score from
anywhere outside the 6-yard box. The match ended 2-1 to Enfield and whilst we can still go above them if we win our games in hand, a
win yesterday would have put us above them with games in hand, and so we can only regard the game as a missed opportunity to gain three
points

Enfield (1) 2 Georgiou 34, 46
Purfleet (0) 1 47
Two home wins in a week and some of the pressure is now off Enfield FC. A seven point gap from Harrow Borough and the results
are going our way. Enfield even kept their bottle when Purfleet clawed themselves back into the game. It was so satisfying to
get one over on our visitors after a small section of their fans got a little excited at scoring and felt they were on for an
easy win.
Even stevens (where did that phrase start?) for the first half hour. Enfield's best chances to that point had been
from Boyce, whose final ball across the box failed to find a white shirt in space. Allen, likewise, though his was the
more skilful of the two, skipping past two challenges as he ran along the goal line before being thwarted by Mead in goal. Then
Georgiou scored the first against his former club, controling the ball and then turning to curl one past the keeper. Sweet.
The second half opened with a brace of goals. Georgiou scored well within the first minute of the restart. His shot on goal
deflected off a defender and ballooned over Mead for 2-0. Purfleet kicked off and went straight up the other end. A cross from
the right and a volley that Addai was unable to stop. Boyce had a good chance to wrap up the win when well clear of the defence,
but his lob just dipped the wrong side of the bar with the keeper doing just enough to put him off.
Purfleet's best chance of a point came four minutes from time when Addai dropped the ball right at the feet of a
Purfleet forward, whose shot was quite incredibly wide when it looked much easier to have scored. Quite possibly the
miss of all misses.

Enfield (1) 1 Boyce 25
Billericay Town (0)
Enfield's third win in eleven days. Championship form! The winning goal arrived in the first half hour after an amusing scramble
involving Georgiou, the opposition keeper King and a couple of defenders trying to get the ball out from under the feet of the Enfield
striker. At one point Georgiou was on his backside trying to hook the ball across the goal. The ball did at length find its way to Boyce, though
even he struggled till finally despatching the ball past a despairing lunge on the line for what proved to be the winner. Georgiou had
a further chance towards the end of the half which he fluffed, whilst Danny Jones might have done better from a corner than put the ball
wide when unchallenged. On the minus side, Enfield allowed Billericay to press forward too much in the second half, but the positive
side was a better display in the first half and an Enfield side passing the ball about with some confidence. Big plus after the game
when for the first time in ages, Enfield supporters were able to show their appreciation for a good result. Nearly safe now.

I would just like to point out that there is in fact no match report for this game, despite what
has been posted to Canvey's official website, nor will there be either. So to Enfield fans winding
up the opposition about the opposition 'tactics' no match postings on our and their message boards
I say get off the beer and get yer facts right!

Hendon (0) 3 Adolphe 55; Soloman 60; Guentchev 78
Enfield (0) 0 Cooper s/o 34
Locked out of the ground till 2.40pm due to a late pitch inspection and news that Whitamore was making his debut in goal for
Enfield. That was the beginning of a wet afternoon under the covered terracing at Hendon FC.
Fitzgerald and Soloman for the opponents made this an amusing, if not productive, fixture. The game was niggly
from the start with lots of off the ball incidents going on behind the ref Tingey's back. Grant Cooper for Enfield
was sent off half an hour into the game with what was assumed to be backchat. More like a frank and to the point
exchange as to 'how the hell you failed to see the push on me'? Enfield had two or three quick efforts in the opening
ten minutes. Both Gregoriou and Georgiou had point-blank efforts saved by Wilmot, who was in a chatty
mood as ever. At length he decided he had taken enough stick, bringing the fun to an end with a 'stop picking on me!'
Enfield were still in the game at half-time. Tingey and his two cronies were late out for the restart, which hardly
endeared them to the Enfield faithful who were still fuming over Cooper and the afters being dished out earlier by
Hendon. The fun really kicked off once Hendon had opened the scoring. The away support wedged under the right hand covered
terracing decided it would be funny to wind Solomon up for his use of gloves on what was hardly a cold afternoon. Cries
of 'mummy's boy' and other such pleasantries bought a smile to the player's face, which were compounded when his effort
on goal was saved by Whitamore and somehow dribbled over the line for 2-0. Soloman of course came running over to in
front of us and was milking his good fortune for all it was worth. Fair enough. But then former E's favourite Fitzgerald
did his reputation no good at all by gesticulating on behalf of his team mate who quite obviously was contented
anyway to have gotten one over on us. Fitzgerald's actions were then scrutinized by our linesman and Tingey to the
obvious shouting for his ejection from the game. Fitzgerald then decided it would be funny to blast the ball into
the middle of the E's congregation, though his failure to even do that was rightly booed.
Hendon wrapped up the points with ten minutes left on the clock. 3-0 was a score that highly flattered our hosts and
from the way they celebrated after the match on the pitch you would have thought they had won the MSC, the FA Cup and the
Ryman League in one go. Maybe the excitement was due to the fact that they had actually completed a home fixture on what
was an absolute bog of a pitch. Aldershot Town tomorrow I do not envy you one bit.
